Birthday Cake Cookies

Okay, it's kinda late in the day to be posting, but I have been working on these cookies all morning.  Then I tried to take a nap. That didn't turn out well!  The kids came home from school before I could get to sleep!  I used a chocolate chip cookie recipe. You can use the recipe on the back of the chocolate chips if you like or whatever favorite one you have.  I made the recipe as directed, except for when it comes to the flour.  Use approximately 1/2 cup of white or yellow cake mix instead of flour. Dip the cookie dough into sprinkles and then bake according to the recipe directions.

Oh holy deliciousness!!  These turned out so tasty!  Yum, yum YUM!  Save the cake mix for other things like birthday cake rice krispy treats or use it in popcorn.

What are your favorite kind of cookies?

Jell-O Cookies

I tried to finish the craft I am making from Pintrest that I want to share with you.  I started sewing it again yesterday, but got side tracked when kids got home from school and the hubby coming home from dinner.  It will be done soon!  I promise...okay no promises.

Here's something else that got me side tracked!  Jell-O cookies!!!  Oh my gosh they are so yummy and addicting!  Here's a few of my picture's.

Getting ready to mix!!

Here's what they look like right out of the oven!  This is the first batch!  They didn't last long!  My little gremlins gobbled them up like no tomorrow!

Here's what they look like on the inside!

Okay here's where I found the recipe! Follow the recipe just like it says, dough will be soft but not sticky!  I didn't use course sugar on the top.  I rolled them in sugar and flattened them with a cup, sprinkled with normal sugar, but they looked kinda weird so the rest of the batches I didn't sprinkle sugar on them!  Use any flavor of Jell-O you have on hand!  Mine are strawberry!

I think I just found my new favorite cookie and a reason to buy more Jell-O!!

The lady who's website these are from is friends with my little sister!  She is an awesome baker!  She's funny too!  I like her blog.

Okay have a great day and don't forget to make these cookies!! YUM!

PS I am going to go finish up my crafty project for you all to see tomorrow!! Here's the start of it.  I took this picture Saturday night when I started it.

See it really does exist!!  I'll show ya the finished project tomorrow!! Take care and go make those phenomenal cookies!

Brownies Instead of Cookies!

I'm kinda burnt out of making cookies, so I made brownies instead!!!

YUM!  I just use the box mix because they never turn out from scratch.  That's just my own opinion though.  I told ya I had heart pans!  These are from Walmart last year!  My hubby's going to love these! Maybe even his coworkers too if they don't get eaten by my cookie monsters!! Or would they be called brownie monsters since these aren't brownies?!?!!!

I'll post pictures later!!  Check back!

Are you doing anything special for your hunny this Thursday?

Cookies and Cookie Tools!

We're baking up a storm the last few days in our home! I wanted to tell you about some of the things we use to make cookies!

Kids!  I love when my kids want to help! Big ones, little ones! They like it when they get to eat the cookies and I get to clean up!!

Measuring devices, cups and spoons!

And of course the best loved paddle attached to my black Kitchen Aid mixer!  I got this mixer a about 4 years ago when my hubby worked at Boeing.  They gave him safety points for helping create a tool to build the planes.  Then they gave him a layoff notice, he was one of the 10,000 canned. Okay enough of that depressing time.  I want to get the bigger one in red.  I buy a lot of kitchen stuff in red!  It's just a bold color.  Power.

There's more!  Now all the ingredients are tools too!  Must haves for cookies, flour, sugar, powdered sugar!

I'm not using my usual recipe for these sugar cookies.  I wanted to try something different! I hope they are just as yummy!  This is the cookbook I used for the sugar cookies!

I love this cookbook!  So many delicious recipes in it! I have their newest ones too.  I bought this one at Costco before we moved two summers ago.

Here's our cookies!

Somewhere on pintrest I read to use jello for coloring the frosting.  It didn't have directions so I melted about a tablespoon of butter and added about 1/4 of a teaspoon of jello. The jello pretty much dissolved! I used a few more tablespoons of butter,  a dash of milk, and 1-2 cups of powdered sugar (depends on the consistency you desire it). Mix well.

A close up of these yummy cookies!

We made these too! They didn't last long! We made more chocolate chip cookies that I shared with you last week.  Those are gone too!  I have heart shaped pans I am going to dig out to make some other things with!

I hope you all had a great weekend.

What are your favorite cookies?

Cookie Fest Coming soon!

What a day!  My husband works evenings, so when he gets home I am already in bed fast asleep.  For some reason he likes to wake me up. I am not a happy person to be around if I do not get my sleep!  It's true, just ask any of my college roommates!  Ask my kids! My hubby has still yet to be trained.  He woke me up to tell me about the food a co worker's wife made.  He's dying for me to make him something comparable to it.  I am going to try to whip something up this weekend to create what he told me about. Until then I am going to start a cookie fest for Valentine's!  I love trying new recipes.  I can't wait to make some, I better get off the computer and get to the store to buy the ingredients; I don't want to run out of anything I already have!  Did you know you can use jello to color frosting? I read it somewhere online while I was searching for some scrumptious recipes! Who would have thought to come up with that instead of food coloring!!!

What are you going to do for your loved ones for Valentine's Day?  Do you make Valentines for kids to hand out at school or buy them?

Chocolate Chip Cookies

I found this recipe of really good looking chocolate chip cookies.  The cookie looks kind of fluffy. Yum, who doesn't love a fluffy cookie?!? So I made these cookies. You can find the recipe here.  I won't go into the details of the how to make them, but here is my pictures of these deliciousness I baked up.

Kinda flat, but still yummy!  I added big chocolate chips and they turned out a little fluffy,

And here's a close up!

I doubled the batch so I could have lots of cookies for my cookie monsters when they come home from school!  I saved some dough because I want to try a tip someone gave me.  I heard stack it high and make sure it's straight out of the fridge and that will help it not be so flat.  Flat or not these cookies turned out very tasty. I'll have to give it an A!!

Follow the link above to find the recipe used for making these cookies!  Don't forget to pin it on Pintrest!

What kind of treats have you baked in your home?  Where do you find recipes to bake from?

Sweet Game Treats!

Okay enough of this food for games we need some sweet treats happening!  How about some traditional rice krispy treats??

I wont tell you how to make those! These ones had a little sprinkles added to them.  For a variety, try adding chocolate chips or a few tablespoons of a white cake mix to the marshmallows when melting.  Melt chocolate chips and spread the chocolate mixture on top. Mmmm, yum!

How about these chocolate oatmeal coconut  no bake cookies!  Yum, I'm going to have to make more of these; I just ate the last one!  They don't last long!  Especially with chocolate and coconut lovers!

Cookie brownies! Or one or the other or both in one!!  Use a muffin tin or cupcake pan for these delightful treats! Pleases both kids and parents!  Dunk in a bit of milk!

Okay, here's my treat ideas for the big game on Sunday!

What are you going to make to satisfy your sweet toothes on game day?
